We’ve heard rumors of Asus’ Eee Pad tablets time and again but there was no real confirmation until now. In an interview with Forbes, Asus chairman, Jonney Shih confirmed that they’re developing not one but two iPad competitors. The first tablet will be based on Google’s OS but whether it will be Chrome or Android, is yet to be revealed. We speculate it could be Android because Asus showed a prototype (albeit a non-working one) at this year’s CES with buttons found on an Android device and powered by Tegra 2.

The other tablet will run on Microsoft’s Windows platform but there is no confirmation if WP7S will be present under the hood or a full fledged Windows 7.

Asus is expected to show both or either of the tablets at the Computex expo that takes place every year in Taiwan.

Asus’ nature inspired Seashell line has got a new addition in the form of Eee PC 1201T. The 12.1-inch ultraportable prides itself for being powered by an AMD Athlon Neo processor and runs full HD content proficiently. At the heart of it is AMD’s 1.6GHz MV-40 CPU and RS780MN chipset capable of handling full HD content but you wouldn’t be able to take much advantage of it since the 12.1-inch display supports a resolution of 1366×768 and no HDMI-out. Anyways, the ultraportable also features a 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VGA webcam, USB 2.0/VGA/Ethernet ports, card reader and a 6-cell battery capable of running for up to 6 hours, thanks to some tweaking by Asus’ Super Hybrid Engine.

Hailing from the lauded Seashell range, Asus brings the same seashell inspired design with its glossy exterior and smooth design.

The Eee PC 1201T will sell for Rs. 21,490 and will come with a one year limited warranty.

Asus has again delayed its Eee Keyboard PC. ASUS chairman Jonney Shih confirmed today at CeBIT that the revolutionary Eee Keyboard will now ship in April because they want to give the best user experience and quality to consumers.

Asus has been showing the Eee Keyboard since early 2009 and have been delaying the sales for various reasons. Eee Keyboard’s initial specs included Intel Atom N270/330 CPU, 1GB RAM, 16 or 32GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-out, LAN, VGA/USB ports and a 5-inch touchscreen display. The specs seem low-end when compared to its clone that integrates ION chipset. Hopefully, Asus will topple it by integrating ION 2.

Pictured above is 1015P that resembles 1005P and features a matte screen, webcam, dual array mic, chiclet keyboard and 14 hours of battery life. 1016P on the other hand will be targeted at business professionals and will feature an aluminum body, chiclet-ized keyboard and a 14 hour battery life.

Finally, the 1018P tries to outdo 1008P and 1008HA with its slim 18mm thick aluminum chassis, large trackpad, chiclet keyboard, fingerprint reader and a 10 hour battery life. Another interesting addition this netbook features is the integration of a USB 3.0 port.

Aesthetically pleasing Eee PC Seashell series have made its way to India. The Seashell series netbooks comprising of Eee PC 1008HA, Eee PC 1005HA & Eee PC 1101HA have a design inspired by – you guessed it – seashells that is enveloped in an opalescent glossy exterior and doubles up as a scratch resistant cover to enhance the netbooks’ durability.

Internally, all the netbooks are similarly spec’d with the same processor, RAM, HDD and OS. The difference comes in the display size with 1101HA adopting a larger screen with the same WSVGA resolution and 1008HA bundled with a smaller 3-cell battery that promises 6 hours of runtime.

The Eee PC 1005HA is the cheapest of the lot which will cost Rs. 23,560 followed by Eee PC 1101HA for Rs. 28,520 and 1008HA for Rs. 29,620.

French netbook site, Blogeee is among the few lucky ones to get their hands on Asus’ Eee Keyboard, which won’t be in the retail market before August. However, instead of ogling this PC in a keyboard, they stripped it to reveal the innards that run this marvelous piece of technology.

The Eee Keyboard has a specially designed circuit board that integrates lots of components. For starters and to the dislike of many, Asus has soldered the RAM. It also uses a lot of tapes to keep everything intact. There’s N280 processor, 16GB SSD, chipset amongst other things like a 40mm cooling fan, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HDMI transmitter. The keyboard also has a 1,880mAh battery that promises to give about 100 mins of runtime.
