Dell today unveiled their first Ultrabook for the Indian market. The XPS 13 is now available on Dell India’s website as well as Dell authorized and large format retail stores. The XPS 13 is a combination of beauty with brains that comes with an edge-to-edge glass display, an aluminum body and a carbon fiber base.

The ultrabook will come in processor options of Core i5 and Core i7 and will feature an integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics, 300nit 1366×768 display, up to 4GB DDR3 RAM, 128GB or 256GB SSD, multi-touch trackpad, backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, mini DisplayPort, 1.3MP webcam and 6-cell battery that gives up to 8 hours of battery life.

Additionally, the XPS 13 is equipped with Intel technologies like Rapid Start and Smart Connect.

Dell will also include its 3-year warranty with premium phone support and in-home service after remote diagnosis.

The XPS 13 pricing starts from Rs. 79,900.

Last Friday Dell showed off the XPS 14z ultraportable notebook for the Indian market. The 14-inch notebook boasts a unibody design and is packed with features, truly signifying it as a ‘beauty with brains’ device.

The notebook comes with choices of 2nd generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and integrates a 14-inch HD WLED (1366×768) display in a smaller 13-inch form factor.

Rounding up the specs sheet is the discrete Nvidia 1GB GT 520M GPU, up o 8GB DDR3 RAM, up to 750GB 7200RPM HDD (disappointingly no SSD option), built-in slot DVD drive, spill-resistant Chiclet keyboard, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 as connectivity options, Wi-Di support, USB 3.0 support, HDMI 1.4, mini Display port, 1.3MP HD webcam and 8-cell battery that gives up to 7 hours of battery life.

XPS 14z pricing starts from Rs. 66,900.

Targeting the business users, Dell has announced the availability of its Windows 7 OS powered slate, the Latitude ST tablet. The ST tablet features a 10.1-inch capacitive touch-screen (1280×800 resolution) LED and pen for writing. Powered by Intel Atom Z670 1.5GHz processor with 2GB RAM, the storage is in the form of 32GB SSD that can be upgraded to 64GB or 128GB.

According to Dell, the Latitude ST can be tailored as per business or end user needs. For healthcare, the Latitude ST easily integrates into Dell’s Electronic Medical Records and Mobile Clinical Computing solutions. And for education, the device is certified for use with Dells own Connected Classroom solution.

On the connectivity front, the ST tablet is 3G compatible and supports Wi-Fi connectivity. The presence of USB 2.0 port, SD Memory card reader and HDMI connectivity expand the usability of this tablet. On the multimedia front, the ST tablet features 720p HD front facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera. This lets you conduct video conferencing on the go with good quality. Other features include TV connectivity, photo sharing and network printing and can docked to a docking station which is sold separately.

Pricing for the Latitude ST starts at Rs. 36,000 plus taxes.

Dell’s Latitude XT3 notebook that can also be converted to a tablet is now available in India. The XT3 is certified with MIL-STD-801G standards, giving users an extra layer of protection to withstand dust, water spills, accidental bumps while working on the field.

The 13.3-inch notebook comes with choices of Intel’s Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, HD display, 2GB RAM, WiMAX connectivity support and an optional 9-cell battery for an all-day power. The XT3 is also equipped with Dell’s Data encryption system.

Dell Latitude XT3 is priced at Rs.1,00,000.

Dell has inked a deal with China’s top search engine Baidu to develop mobile devices for the Chinese market. The new devices which will include both tablets and mobile phones, will run on Baidu’s upcoming operating system called Yi, which is a forked version of Android.

Dell hasn’t divulge the release of its devices but some industry sources speculate to be as early as November.

Dell has announced a new notebook for business-centric consumers in India. The V131 is Dell’s latest offering which is one of the lightest and thinnest notebooks in the Vostro line and boasts decent specs for enhanced productivity. The 13.3-inch laptop comes with choices of Intel’s 2nd generation Core i3 or i5 processors, up to 4GB RAM, Windows 7 pre-installed and integrated Intel graphics.

Additionally, the laptop boasts 750GB of storage, various connectivity options like Bluetooth 3.0, Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0/USB 3.0 ports, HDMI etc., 1MP webcam and a 6-cell removable battery that has a battery life of up to 9.5 hours.

Is Streak 5 a tablet? Or a huge smartphone? Well, you don’t have to debate any more as Dell has taken the smallest Streak tablet off the shelves. A visit to Streak’s US product page reveals a banner that bids adieu to the Streak 5 without specifying any reason. Interestingly, Streak is still listed on the Indian web page, which means Dell is selling the device in the Indian market, apparently until the inventory runs out.

Streak 5 was one of the first attempts by Dell for tablet-seeking consumers but has now expanded the Streak line with couple more larger-sized additions.

Dell has made their first 10.1-inch Honeycomb running tablet official and it will not be available in United States, at least for now. The tablet got the acknowledgement in China where Engadget was at hand for the official unveiling. The tablet is just another run-of-the-mill Honeycomb tablet but scores on the price front.

Streak 10 Pro features 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 10.1-inch 1280×800 display with Gorilla Glass, 1GB RAM, 5MP camera at the back, 2MP on the front, 16GB internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SDHC card support and 2GB cloud storage.

It will sell in China for 2,999 yuan or about $465.

At an event in Mumbai, Dell introduced the revamped range of Inspiron R laptops. The 14-inch and 15-inch Inspiron R can be given your personalized touch with the changeable lids. The Inspiron R comes in a default black lid but can be stylized with optional lids that can be bought for Rs.1,999. Dell offers 10 different lids to choose from, including an India-specific Mehendi design.

However, the new Inspiron R series is not about aesthetics alone. The range has been refreshed with Intel’s 2nd generation Core i3 or i5 processors. Additionally, the laptop features up to 4GB RAM, Intel HD graphics or option AMD Radeon HD6470M or Nvidia GeForce GT525M, 720p HD display, SRS Premium HD speakers, up to 500GB HDD, Dell Stage UI, Chiclet keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, eSATA port, HDMI, Ethernet, 8-in-1 memory card reader and 6-cell battery.

The Inspiron 14R pricing starts from Rs.34,300 whereas the 15R starts from Rs.35,300.

After the 5-inch Dell Streak, the device that is too uncomfortable to make calls and too small to call itself a tablet, Dell comes up with a “proper” smartphone powered by Android 2.2 OS (Froyo) labeled as Venue.
