LG today announced two phones in its Cookie lineup, the Cookie Plus (GS500) and Cookie Fresh (GS290). Cookie Plus was unveiled last month so there’s nothing new to know here but it’s the Cookie Fresh that tries to lure the low-end touchscreen market.

Cookie Fresh will come in 10 different colors and feature a 2MP camera, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, email support and more. LG touts an easy to use user interface with its Cartoon UI and has LiveSquare that displays SMSes, Facebook messages and avatars right on the home screen.

Cookie Fresh along with Cookie Plus will be released in more than 50 countries starting first in Europe in March and followed by Asia and Latin America.

LG has announced Cooke Pep (GD510) to take on the Corbys and other cheap touchscreen phones in India. Priced at a modest Rs. 7,500, the phone goes for the young crowd with its social networking prowess and easy-to-use interface. Cookie Pep will feature a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, 3MP camera, 8GB internal memory, Bluetooth and quick access to various social networking sites.

The international version also comes with an optional solar charger back panel accessory but it seems LG India won’t sell it here.

LG seems to have gotten into a phone launching spree as they’ve launched their third touchscreen phone in two days.

Cookie Plus or GS500 tries to gain from LG’s successful Cookie brand and comes with features that LG reckons are sociable and enjoyable for the user. It comes with a full touchscreen display and has Cartoon-like UI, 3G, 3MP camera, music player and FM Radio.

Other features that LG is proudly boasting are its SNS capability, LiveSquare, a peer management application, editable screenshots that can be sent as MMS and support for widgets.

LG will be launching the phone in 45 countries with France and Italy being the first recipients in early March.

LG may not be privileged as Samsung to celebrate its cheap touch phone’s success in six months but nonetheless, its Cookie phone has reached a milestone. The Cookie aka KP500 touch phone has passed the iconic 10m sales figure since its launch in November last year, making it the fastest selling touchscreen device for LG.

Cookie saw a majority of sales coming from Europe, selling over 5m units, followed by 2m in Latin America and 2m in Asia.

With huge sales for Cookie, LG also confirmed an incoming successor. The intrinsic details are under wraps but the first sighting is expected in early 2010. MWC 2010 is our best guess.

LG Electronics have proudly announced that their budget touchscreen phone, Cookie (KP500) has crossed an important milestone today. More than 5 million units have been sold since it was launched in over 60 countries in November 2008. This makes Cookie as the fastest selling LG device that equates to selling up to 19,000 units each day, 791 units per hour or 9 per minute.

Needless to say LG’s looking to reach the next milestone as soon as possible. “If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.

It will be interesting to see who reaches the 10m units first because Samsung has also vowed to achieve the same with S5230 by the end of this year.

LG Electronics has excitedly announced that its affordable touchscreen Cookie phone has garnered over two million unit sales since it was first released in October last year.

The price and the features of a premium touch phone found in Cookie are contributed as the reasons for its success. LG Cookie’s worldwide sales account consists of 1.2 million in Europe, 600,000 in Asia and Latin America and over 100,000 in Korea, making it the most popular handset in its hometown.

LG is now looking for a 10 million milestone and plans to release it in 20 more countries.

LG has revealed another variant of its affordable Cookie phone with the 3D S-Class UI. The phone has now been renamed as Cooky (LG-SU910/KU9100/LU9100) and it features a 3D sensor, T-DMB, HSDPA and TV Tuner. The phone will be initially sold in South Korea only for 590,000KRW.

When LG Electronics revealed their creation, they let the pricing remain a mystery until the launch. And now as the launch is imminent this month, LG let the cat out of the bag albeit with a name change.

The KP500 phone will now be known as Cookie and this Cookie will sell for around $230. Hats off to LG for pricing it just right which can prove a deterrent to 5800 XpressMusic sales in future in price sensitive markets because of the almost identical feature set.
