Apple product price cuts generally happen after an official announcement but it’s surprising that US Apple Store has quietly reduced the price of iPod Nano, Classic and Touch range. The Nano now starts at $129 from the earlier $149, Classic now going for $229 (original was $249) and Touch starts with $189 which was previously starting from $229.

We’re not sure if Apple has done this in order to reduce the non-camera iPod inventory or is planning to sell these alongside the camera iPods. Whatever the case is, we’ll know in the next few hours.

Nokia was the first one to recognize the power of upcoming and emerging markets. They created a niche for low budget phones which eventually made them the undisputed leader in the mobile phone market. Still being bullish on the bottom of the pyramid, Nokia today announced seven new phones costing not more than $120.

The cheapest to be unveiled today was Nokia 1202. It will sell for $32 by the end of this year making it one of the Nokia’s cheapest phones. 1202 has a monochrome display, loud ringtones and an added feature of flashlight to make cheapsters excited. Nokia 1661 on the other hand, raises the bar a little bit with a large color screen. 1661 will come in Q1 next year at a price tag of $39.

Going higher comes Nokia 2320 classic, 2323 classic and 2330 classic. All these devices support Mail on Ovi and Nokia Life Tools and are expected to retail in Q2 of 2009. In addition to it, 2323 supersedes 2320 with inclusion of FM Radio, browser while 2330 tops both of them with an integrated VGA camera. 2320 and 2323 will sell for $52 whereas 2330 classic to go for $65.

For fashionistas looking for a cheap fashionable phone, Nokia has revealed 7100 Supernova in the Supernova range. The chic slider phone sports a color screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, FM Radio and Ovi. It will come out this year for $97.

The costliest announcement for today yet the cheapest music phone from Nokia is 5130 XpressMusic. The phone packs a lot of music functions like FM Radio, standard 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated music keys. It also has a 2 megapixel camera and a support for few Ovi services. Expected in Q1 2009 for $117.

Steve Jobs announced the 4th generation iPod Nano today. The new Nanos are reincarnated in the same avatar as its 1st and 2nd generations albeit with an oval body. It’s the thinnest iPod in Apple’s arsenal and despite the slim form factor it packs a punch. It has a built-in accelerometer (just like iPhone and iPod touch) to control gestures, slick UI, Genius playlist support and shake to shuffle. This iPod is also the greenest device ever created by Apple. The Nano will sell for $149 for 8GB and $199 for 16GB in 9 different hues.

The old iPod Classic line has been shelved altogether making way to the only available 120GB Classic. This makes the Classic run head to head against the 120GB Zune announced yesterday. 120GB Classic ships from Apple store for $249. iPod Touch also entered into its next generation with a minor bump in features and design. The new Touch now has contoured design, built-in speaker, Nike+ integration and Genius playlist. There are loads of games also coming to Touch making it a handy gaming device. 8GB/16GB/32GB going for $229/$299/$399 respectively.

Nokia 6220 Classic sets its eyes on the booming Indian mobile market. We can easily say it is the first non N-Series phone which is powerpacked with features. Or should I say N82 in a different avatar? It borrows a lot of features from N82 like a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon Flash, assisted-GPS, HSDPA and bundled Nokia Maps 2.0 application with maps of nine cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahemdabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The launch price is set at Rs. 19,959 ($462) which is a tad expensive than its N-Series counterpart which sells at Rs. 19,392 ($449).
