Microsoft’s new pet project known as Courier has been uncovered. It’s a tablet-cum-booklet device that is said to be in the late prototype stages where Microsoft is busy etching out the UI. Courier features two touchscreen displays about 7-inches each with multi-touch support, an iPhone like home button, a camera, wireless inductive charging and LED battery/wireless status indicators on either of the screen’s rim. The detailed specs are still under wraps but Gizmodo promises to reveal more about Courier in the coming days, which might also cover it specs.

CNET’s Ina Fried also got in touch with her sources and she reckons this iteration of Courier is one of the many prototypes floating at Redmond. It is also said to be Bill Gates’ dream project.

In the meantime, check out this short video showing Courier’s capabilities.

As promised, Nokia has revealed its first ever netbook’s specifications and price. The Booklet 3G will be available from fourth quarter of this year and features a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, 10.1-inch 1280×720 display, 1GB RAM, 1.8-inch 120GB HDD (4200RPM), 1.3MP webcam, HDMI-out, 3 USB ports, SD card slot, SIM/USIM card slot and 16-cell battery that promises to give about 12 hours of usage time.

Booklet 3G also boasts multitude of connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and A-GPS. On the OS front, the device will run choices of Windows 7 Starter, Home Premium or Professional editions.

Nokia has finally put speculation to rest with the introduction of its first ever netbook dubbed as the Booklet 3G. On announcing the device, Kai Oistamo, Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices today said “Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us” and I couldn’t agree more. The netbook will try to extend the reach of Nokia’s Ovi services from smartphones to wider range of devices like netbooks. The Ovi Suite will help to sync user’s Nokia phone to the Booklet; integrated A-GPS will work with Ovi Maps; and will also be able to download audio tracks from Nokia Music Store.

The aesthetics aren’t disappointing too, which comes in an all aluminum chassis, measures just over 2cm in thickness and weighs 1.25kg. Other features include Intel Atom processor, 10-inch display, Windows OS (mostly Win7), 3G/HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-out and 12 hours of battery life.

Detailed specifications, pricing and availability will be announced at the Nokia World next month.
