The Aspire TimelineX 1830T will be yet another 11.6-inch notebook supporting 1366×768 resolution but its major differentiation will be the integration of Core i5 CPUs. This offering sports a Core i5-520UM processor clocking at 1.06GHz and can go up to 1.86GHz with the help of Intel’s Turbo Boost. Additionally, it features Intel’s HM55 chipset, two memory slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, SPDIF, optional 3G, card reader, USB 2.0 ports and a battery capable of giving up to 8 hours. Price is unknown but Macles reckons it to be unveiled in the last week of this month.

Meanwhile, Digitimes is claiming that Acer is readying to launch this Calpella Timeline series on March 22 (Acer Taiwan says March 30). Although the report does not mention the 1830T, it does hint about notebooks ranging 13- to 15-inches and having a battery life of up to 8 hours.

It looks like we’ll finally have a netbook that will break the Atom mold. As rumored before, Acer is prepping 1810T from the Timeline series that is fitted in a slightly modified Aspire One 751’s chassis.

The spec sheet includes the same 11.6-inch screen with 1,366×768 resolution but here is where it gets better – 1.4GHz S3500 CULV CPU with Intel GS45 chipset, RAM support of up to 4GB, integrated GMA 4500HD coupled with hardware accelerated HD video decoding, HDMI, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, webcam, optional 3G and Bluetooth and a whopping 8 hours of battery life.

The netbook will come with Vista Home Premium but since Windows 7 is just around the corner, Acer will dish out a free upgrade to Windows 7.

Another day another rumor emerges from the Taiwanese shores. The heart of the rumor today is Acer and its ultra-thin notebook Timeline series. Apparently, due to the not so pleasing sales of Acer’s 11.6-inch netbook, its OEM, Quanta Computer has been asked to develop an 11.6-inch ultra-thin notebook.

Ultra-thin chassis means it will fall under its Timeline series and boast more powerful specs that will help to drive its sales. This of course, will be done only after they’ll get rid of its netbook offering, which will be by the way to either discontinue the netbook variant or reduce the price of it.
