In addition to the Jellow AIO concept, the other concept that attracted our attention was MSI’s dual-screen notebooks. MSI had created two dual-screen devices – one 10- and another 7-incher – both functioning as working prototypes and running Windows 7. The rep was reluctant to say the expected release but confirmed it as scheduled for 2010. The models were very early prototypes and really buggy. At one instance, the MSI rep was pressing on the lower screen but the device detected it as a press on the upper screen.

The specs according to Laptop is that the 10-inch version has a capacitive version, Intel Atom processor and SSD. No word on the 7-inch version though.

Asus and Bang & Olufsen were showing their jointly created latest monstrous laptop. The 18-incher NX90 was seen gracing the CES showfloor few days back and boy is it a looker. Sure, it’s very heavy, about 5kgs but the clean design and unnecessary but unique dual-touchpad would want you to take away this baby right away.

However, aesthetics is not the only front where Asus and B&O have concentrated, it’s powerful on the specs front too. The model which I saw was running 1.73GHz Q820 Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, ICEPower speakers, has up to 1280GB of HDD support, slot-in Blu-ray drive, Nvidia GPU, USB 3.0 and 64-bit Windows 7.

The price was not revealed but going by the feature set, it should be start in between $1,500 – $2,000.

The player emphasizes on the minimalistic design and an intuitive TicToc Motion Control UI. Pressing the button on the top and shaking it will skip it to the next track or tilting it down or upwards changes the volume. Interestingly, shaking it faster or slower skips to the next fast or slow song respectively. This player seems to be targeted at youngsters (predominantly female) going by the choice of colors on offer. It will be available in capacities of 2 and 4GB with an estimated battery life of around 12 hours. No word on the price or availability.

In the bustle of 3D TVs and e-book readers, Haier was showing an interesting product on the CES show floor. Haier introduced a prototype of a wireless HD television that was powered from the energy created by a nearby magnetic field.

Haier’s TV was using MIT’s WiTricity technology that converts the AC power to a higher frequency which is fed to a coil (power source). The current fed to the source then creates an oscillating magnetic field and the device to be powered captures it with the help of an integrated power capture coil, which then converts to AC or DC current as per the device’s specifications.

No word on the expected availability but if we were to make a wild guess, it should be sometime in late 2010 or early next year.

Concepts are way cooler and smarter than actual products because it shows what it holds for the future. Similarly, Asus is showing off its Waveface concept behind the protected glass giving us a glimpse of future, provided Asus ever releases one. The Waveface is a series consisting of a wearable phone, a tablet PC and a large display.

Starting with Waveface Ultra, it’s a wearable phone that pushes relevant data automatically over the air. It will support gesture controls and can also be straightened so as to allow the information to be viewed in full screen.

The Waveface Light is a tablet notebook that works like a normal notebook but can be transformed into a big screen tablet. The Asus rep said the keyboard is the screen that rises up on folding up the notebook.

Finally, the Waveface Casa is a large widescreen display that sits in your living room, being able to surf the internet as well as allow users to watch television.

We checked out the recently announced Myfit and IceTouch PMPs. The Myfit PMP – as you understand – goes for the fitness seeking crowd. The player is pretty light and it’s the fitness and wellness management features that set it apart. There are sensors placed on the top of the player that checks the body fats, stress and melanin levels of the user. Placing a finger on top of the player instantly checked out my stress levels. Samsung did not reveal the exact price but it shouldn’t be more than $150.

IceTouch was placed in a glass so we really didn’t get to touch it but nonetheless, it’s transparent AMOLED was clearly visible. The player looks really good and has an interchangeable “Color Skirts” (bottom part).

The player will be available in 8/16GB capacities and supports SoundAlive 5.1 Channel (upgraded engine from DNSe) with an estimated playback time of 20 and 3.5 hours for audio/video respectively.

MSI is showing off an all-in-one PC concept at the CES. Dubbed as Jellow Family Computer, the AIO takes a different approach by integrating a storage space for keyboard. The PC display slides upwards to reveal and use the keyboard. The concept had a transparent keyboard hidden beneath it but we’re unsure if it can store keyboards other than provided by MSI. The Jellow Computer features a slim design, 23-inch HD LED display and a Jellow Mouse that integrates remote and phone control functionalities.

Dell held its media event today and unveiled this CES’ hottest trend, the tablet. Dell’s tablet hasn’t been given a name yet but this 5-inch will be due on AT&T, in addition to Mini 3i. Previous rumors have named it Streak and going by the official and leaked pictures, it does look like Streak.

On the other hand, Dell’s gaming subsidiary unwrapped an 11-incher with enough horsepower to put 15-inchers to shame. The Alienware M11x comes with Nvidia GeForce GT335M card capable to play games and watch HD content with ease. Expectedly, such gaming performance has to be compromised with battery life and is rated to give just 2 hours of juice on gaming mode. Rest of the specs are unknown at the moment but will launch later this year.
