After a whopping 1.2 billion hours of public testing, Microsoft has released the Windows 8 OS to the general public. The operating system is now available in most countries, including in India that can bought as a retail copy, an upgrade copy or pre-loaded with PCs from over 14 different OEM partners.
For the uninitiated, Windows 8 is a completely revamped operating system from Microsoft that is optimized for different screen sizes and boasts a new user interface with live tiles. The OS also marks the opening of the Windows app store that will allow developers to publish free and paid apps for better discovery.
Microsoft is selling the Windows 8 Pro for Rs. 1,999 for a limited time or consumers who bought a qualified PC can upgrade the OS for just Rs. 699.
