Seagate has announced the latest generation of its unique Momentus XT Hybrid drives that combines the speed of a SSD and storage of a regular HDD.

The Momentus XT features an 8GB NAND Flash memory along with 750GB of HDD and with the help of Seagate’s Adaptive Memory and FAST Factor technologies, the drive identifies data usage patterns and moves the frequently used data onto the SSD for faster access.

According to Seagate, the new 6Gb/s SATA interface drive is 70 percent faster than the previous generation Momentus XT drive and up to three times faster than a conventional 750GB HDD.
