Tell HTC

A serious security vulnerability has been discovered that basically puts most high-end HTC Android users to risk. Discovered by guys over at Android Police, a simple app can access other sensitive data like Phone logs, GPS logs, SMSes, Wi-Fi and more. All the app needs is an Access to Internet permission “android.permission.INTERNET.”

The reason why HTC phones are leaking such sensitive date is apparently due to the Htcloggers.apk, which HTC integrated sometime back. The app interestingly, logs all user data even if explicitly marked not to collect any data.

HTC on the other hand, has confirmed to look into the issue and will come out with a solution too. For users who can’t wait, you can root the device and delete HtcLoggers.apk.
