Google’s Android 2.3 OS aka Gingerbread has gone official on Samsung’s Nexus S device. Nexus S will be the first phone to run the new Android OS and will be available to consumers in US and UK starting from December 16 and 20 respectively.

Nexus S is in a way a revamped Galaxy S with some new features like 4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA contour display with curved screen, the 5MP camera now has a LED flash and is NFC-enabled.

As far as other specs are concerned, the phone has a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, Quad-band GSM / tri-band HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 720p HD video playback, 16GB internal memory and 1500mAh battery.

Nexus S’ pricing for the US is $529 for the unlocked and $199 for T-Mobile variant with 2-year contract. On the other hand, the phone goes for free in the UK with a 35GBP 24-month commitment or 549.95GBP sim-free.
