Microsoft’s event scheduled on October 11 is confirmed to be a Windows Phone 7 affair but if Neowin’s sources are correct, we might also see few upcoming tablets powered by Windows. The site says the Microsoft event will be dominated with WP7 but will also have something to say about its “future Slate plans”.

Furthermore, the site states that MS is desperate to roll out its slate by Christmas and are working closely with OEMs to produce an iPad challenger.

“You’ll see slates, but if you want most of the benefits of what a PC can offer, creating, a form factor that has been tuned over years, you’ll see us expand the footprint of what Windows can target,” said the source.
