After number of leaks, Motorola has finally come clean with the Droid 2 handset. The Droid 2 as like other Droids will be available on Verizon Wireless with pre-sales starting tomorrow and will sell in Verizon retail stores from Aug 12.
The Droid 2 runs Android 2.2 out of the box and features a 3.7-inch multi-touch display, 3G with hotspot support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5MP camera with DVD-quality video recording, DLNA, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, sliding physical QWERTY keyboard, Swype text input, microSD card slot and GPS.
It will sell for $199.99 on a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.
Also, to honor the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars Saga, Motorola has announced R2-D2 Droid 2 special edition phone. It will be sold in limited numbers in September and will feature exclusive Star Wars content with the phone designed to look like the trusty Droid from the film saga.
