We’ve seen SLCD go head-to-head against LCD and AMOLED but Cnet Asia has made the battle more interesting by pitting the SLCD-equipped HTC Desire with Desire’s older AMOLED screen.

The pictures rightly point out that SLCD does give a comparable visual experience and though colors on the AMOLED screen look more vibrant, SLCD offers better performance outdoors.

However, switch to SLCD does not mean HTC won’t use AMOLED in the future. HTC Southeast Asia’s Product Manager Wayne Tang confirmed that “we can expect to see both types of displays in current and future HTC devices.”
