Jailbreaking, Unlocking phones, copying DVDs for non-commercial use now legal in US

Americans can now jailbreak, unlock their phones or even copy DVDs for non-commercial use without fearing of getting sued. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) today won three critical exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) anti-circumvention provisions.
Now users can jailbreak/root their device and even install legal third party applications that were rejected from the App Store. This doesn’t mean companies like Apple will welcome it but they could implement more protection to make jailbreaking difficult. If that is not all, cell phone users can unlock their phones to make their phones work on another cellular network, however, this applies to used phones and not the new ones.
Finally, users who copy short clips from DVDs will no longer violate the DMCA if they use those clips for non-commercial or educational purposes.
