Acer might have turned down the idea to develop an iPad competing product but Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sony thinks otherwise. At a news conference in Tokyo Sony’s CFO, Nobuyuki Oneda admitted that time wise Sony maybe behind the iPad but reckons they’ve the capability to deliver a killer product to rival Apple’s unreleased product.

“That is a market we are also very interested in. We are confident we have the skills to create a product. It’s a space we would like to be an active player in,” said Oneda.

Oneda didn’t mention when the possible product will be launched but has confirmed to launch many mobile products taking advantage of network capabilities, which could also include Sony’s tablet.
