Kodak has filed lawsuits against Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) over their use of patented digital imaging technologies. Kodak has complained to the U.S. ITC to look into their claims and prevent import of devices that infringe on the said patents. In addition to that, Kodak also filed two separate lawsuits against Apple pertaining to infringement of digital camera and computer processes patents.

Kodak says they’ve no intention to put a sudden halt on respective company’s products but want a “fair compensation” for the technologies patented by Kodak.

“Our primary interest is not to disrupt the availability of any product but to obtain fair compensation for the use of our technology. There’s a basic issue of fairness that needs to be addressed. Those devices use Kodak technology, and we are merely seeking compensation for the use of our technology in their products,” said Laura G. Quatela, Chief Intellectual Property Officer, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company.

Samsung and LG were the recent companies to enter into a cross-licensing agreement with the camera company. Kodak claims around 30 companies license their imaging technology.
