Nvidia Ion 2 delayed on behest of manufacturers

The last we heard about Ion 2 was Acer cornering number of chips from Nvidia and was ready to be launched at CES. However, Fudzilla has now heard directly from the chipmaker that they won’t officially launch the chipset at the CES but only showcase. Nvidia’s senior manager confirmed the launch will be in Q1 2010 because the original Ion was released in Q4 2009 and partners are currently enjoying good sales.
Ion 2 is reported to be twice as powerful with at least 32 shaders and will support Pinetrail platform.
