Flash 10.1 to bring GPU accelerated video to smartphones, smartbooks and notebooks

At the Adobe MAX conference, Adobe announced Flash Player 10.1 that is not just another update patching up security and other loopholes. In fact, v10.1 brings lots of new additions, like full flash viewing capabilities for smartphones, smartbooks and also benefits from GPU accelerated video decoding. Flash Player 10.1 is specially designed for mobile devices and thus, it supports multi-touch gestures, accelerometer, GPU hardware acceleration and adaptive frame rate.

The list of supporting partners includes Nvidia and Qualcomm for chipsets, RIM, Nokia and Google. A public developer beta for Desktop OSes (Windows, Mac, Linux) and mobile OSes like Windows Mobile and Palm webOS will be available later this year while Android and Symbian OS will get it from early 2010.
