Google announces Chrome OS

Interesting news to start the day. Google today introduced its own operating system dubbed as Chrome OS. It’s not a full fledged OS to give Windows or Mac a run for its money but for computers that only know to do one thing – surf internet. Though Google is targeting netbooks for its new OS, I think it would be better with devices like Crunchpad, which is also trying to do the same thing.
The Google Chrome OS supports both x86 and ARM architecture and will run in a windowing system atop a Linux kernel. Google will open-source the code later this year while devices running on this OS will start retailing from the second half of 2010.
