Airtel authorized to unlock iPhones but are they doing it?

Oh boy, look here. This info comes from Apple’s support pages so we can blindly testify the legitimacy of the news but does Airtel offer it? I quickly called the Customer Care to find out and after putting on hold for more than 10 minutes, I finally got an answer, NO.
What should we make off this? It possibly hints at couple of things:
- Maybe the customer exec wasn’t aware of it
- Or Airtel will mostly sell unlocked iPhone 3Gs after the launch of iPhone 3G S
