Microsoft: Windows 7 coming on October 22

Acer’s confession had some truth. Microsoft has confirmed October 22 as the Windows 7 release date. The early release is attributed to cash on the hype and success of Windows 7’s beta and RC releases and also to win back public confidence after the failure of Vista.
Microsoft will send Windows 7 RTM codes to PC makers by the end of July while users picking up Windows devices before October 22 will be eligible for a free upgrade. However, the eligibility dates have not been released.
