Ready yourself to gorge on yet another iPhone rumor. This one comes from Apple iPhone Apps whose source happens to work on Apple’s hardware development team. There is nothing to validate the legitimacy of the rumor but the specs look worthy enough for the next gen iPhone. Here it goes:

32GB and 16GB to replace current capacities
$199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
3.2 Megapixel camera
Video recording & editing capabilities
Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
OLED screen
1.5X The battery life
Double the RAM and processing power
Built-in FM transmitter
Apple logo on the back to light up
Rubber-tread backing
Sleeker design
Built-in compass
Revolutionary combination of the camera, GPS, compass, and Google maps to identify photo and inform about photo locations.
Turn by turn directions
July 17th, 2009 release date

While few features like camera/storage upgrade were expected, the new ones are interesting. OLED screen and uber cool illuminated Apple logo could prove to be a show stealer.

  2. [...] Kotaku hooked up with some sources who claim that the new iPhone will feature a 3D graphics chip. As with other rumors, this one’s too unconfirmed but a graphics chip for gaming makes sense, as iPhone is often pitted against other handheld gaming consoles. Their source also claimed a few other things, like the iPhone will operate on a new, high-speed network, enhanced Bluetooth support that will enable manufacturers to sell iPhone specific Bluetooth accessories and also a July 17 release date. The date actually aligns with the previous rumor. [...]
