The Pioneer, a daily from New Delhi is reporting that the companies bidding for a BSNL WiMAX franchise are fake and floated by Telecom Minister, A Raja’s confidant Sanjay Kapoor. Even if the article fails to prove the closeness between Sanjay Kapoor and A Raja, it is still disturbing that out of six shortlisted companies, five are owned by Sanjay Kapoor.

The firms WiExpert Communications, SV Telecom Systems, Digitelco Communications, Spectrus Communications and Technotial Infoways bear the same registration date, auditor, notary officer, witnesses and email id. The director of the aforementioned companies are from Sanjay’s family and in one case, Sanjay’s driver is the director of Digitelco.

It will be interesting to see how this story develops because this exposé looks to be the tip of an iceberg.
