Sony being pressurized by game developers for PS3 price cut

Game publishers are pressuring Sony to lower PS3 prices or they may divert their development resources to world’s largest selling console, Wii. Even though, we have heard rumors about the imminent price cut before (which never happened), Mike Hickey, analyst with Janco Partners reckons that Sony might eventually cut from $50 to $100 in a month or two.
However, the official word from SCEA’s senior VP, Peter Dille is totally different. He denies that the console may undergo a price cut in the near future.
“Everybody in the development community would love for the PS3 to be free, so they could just sell razor blades,” he said.
I think Sony (as well as Dille) is missing the point. The developers are calling for a price cut because a cheaper price tag will result in more hardware sales, which in turn will drive more people to buy the software, eventually increasing software sales too.
Developers are lured to go for Wii despite knowing its limitations, is the wide install user base and also the ROI that can be recovered easily as compared to PS3.
PS3 is the currently the priciest console in the market. Wii retails for $250, Xbox 360 for $200 while PS3 for $400.
