Windows Mobile 6.5

With so many phones and services announced at the MWC, Microsoft too had three important announcements to make, that according to them will shape the future of Windows phones. First was the official acknowledgement of Windows Mobile 6.5. No surprises here as Microsoft has got a completely new UI that is more finger friendly, more items on the dashboard for the user to work and Internet Explorer Mobile 6.

My Phone is a cloud based backup service for Windows Mobile phones. It helps to store user contacts, multimedia and office files, messages etc. on the web, so that even if he loses the phone, his data is still intact. The My Phone service is currently in a limited invitation beta.

The last announcement from them was the Marketplace aka the App Store for Windows Mobile phones. The Marketplace will be integrated with Windows Mobile 6.5 but users from all Windows Mobile devices will be able to buy the software from the phone as well as PC by simply using their Windows Live ID. It looks like a centralized place for all Windows Mobile needs but not as intelligent as the Ovi Store.
