LG Electronics announced its association today with Intel for the development of a Mobile Internet Device (MID) that will be powered by Intel’s MID hardware platform, Moorestown. LG’s MID will be the very first to integrate Moorestown platform along with Intel’s Moblin 2.0 OS.

Moorestown is the codename of second gen MID platform that has a SoC integrating a 45nm Atom processor, GPU, video and memory controller. It also has varied types of I/O ports.

Moorestown powered MIDs are said to be more power efficient than the current set of Atom based MIDs. Intel plans to launch Moorestown in 2010, which means we can’t expect the LG MID to hit before the launch of Moorestown.
