One company which has made the blogosphere buzzing about its entrance in the portable music market is Dell. They are definitely enjoying the free publicity but one thing to ponder over is can they beat Apple? Apple knows the market best and selling more than a 100 million iPods (and counting) is no joke, so comparing Dell’s unannounced device to Apple iPod at this juncture makes no sense.

If Dell were to make an impact in the market, they need something special. And as per WSJ’s article, they are on their way to make a Wi-Fi enabled player which will purportedly run on Zing firmware and users will be able to download content from Zingspot. There’s no additional info available but we really hope it is something unique and different.
