Globalstar GSP-1700: World’s smallest satphone

Globalstar, which operates a satellite network in more than 120 countries across 6 continents, shows a new phone for satphone users. The GSP-1700, manufactured by Qualcomm, is touted as the world’s smallest satellite phone. It is almost 45% smaller than other Globalstar phones and weighs just 203 grams. The phone measures 135Ñ…54Ñ…35mm and gives a talk time of around 270 minutes on its Lithium-ion battery.

[...] Few days ago we saw a phone from Globalstar claiming to be the world’s smallest satellite phone. But now this tag is ripped by its competitor, Thuraya which is offering its SO-2510. The phone is 16.2mm slimmer, 17mm smaller and 73 grams lighter than the GSP-1700. This clearly makes SO-2510 the smallest, lightest and slimmest satellite phone available today. On the specifications front, this phone is powered by VXWORKS OS, 32MB internal memory and supports 10 languages.
