Toshiba preps slimmest HD DVD writer


Toshiba announced that they will be unveiling world’s slimmest HD DVD burner for laptops at the upcoming CEATEC which starts from tomorrow. It is a step taken forward in an effort to adopt the new optical technology at a faster rate. The SD-L902A is just 12.7mm thick and can burn CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD±R SL/DL, DVD±RW and HD DVD-R Single/Double layer discs. The drive weighs 170 grams which connects through an ATAPI interface and has 8MB of cache memory. Toshiba plans to integrate this in its own line of laptops as well as supply to other manufacturers.
