Samsung has announced a new chip which enables a mobile LCD screen to be clearly readable under bright sunlight. The intelligent Display Driver IC (DDI) chip is integrated with the screen to make it visible in sun without consuming more battery. It is done using a special quality enhancement algorithm which can automatically sense ambient light and tune the backlight accordingly.
Samsung is planning to put this chip into mass production by the end of this year and expects a positive growth considering the wide use of mobile devices.
